The clock in the BIOS flies after replacing the battery in the laptop, what should I do?

I inherited a laptop, an old one. ASUS F8P. The laptop itself is from the bearded 2007 (oh my God, 13 years have passed). During this time, the battery managed to "sit down", a strategic decision was made to purchase one to replace it, because. when you turn on the device every time to set the clock - not comme il faut. The laptop's battery is dead, that's why they pulled it out and no one puts it back in, the laptop lives near the outlet.

After a rather painful procedure for replacing the battery, which took 4 hours of life (I have never seen such dreary machines in disassembly, it’s very confusing, you literally need to disassemble the entire laptop to get to the battery slot) I did replace it. But even so, after each power outage, the clock was reset to the default date of 2007.

The BIOS was updated, the most recent one, May 2008, and the problem remained the same, only now the clock is reset to May 2008. Well, at startup, it stably asks either to skip this moment with the F1 button, or to configure it using F2.

I'm not a great specialist in repairs, but I've seen something. And I don't understand why. Where to dig? Am I missing something obvious?

Was the new battery ok? Did you measure voltage?

Didn't find what you were looking for?
