The client does not display .gifs in IE, can this be fixed?

So it goes. Here's Mr site . At the stage of improvement.
Here, with the help of JS, .gif are loaded.
The customer reports that he does not display .gif in IE.
I can’t test it myself, because I have a mac and there is no place for Windows in it.
Earlier I heard and now I read that this may be the initiative of the browser - they say, it blocks gif-images embedded with js scripts, considering them garbage and advertising. Is it so?
Can this be corrected at the moment?
UPD: found out that it's a promise, which IE does not understand and gives errors. What can be done about it?

Apparently, they forgot to connect the polyfill, it is not in the new babel.

There are not only no blocks with pictures, but the fonts are miserable. Why are you using js?
