Switch when assigning IP addresses to ports in Mikrotik crs125?

I can't understand how Mikrotik ports (crs125) behave when assigning IP addresses to them? In particular, when setting up a gateway. Are ARP packets still running? Or if you put down arp disable then the port is, as it were, excluded from the switch?
