SSD: Crucial M4 64GB vs Plextor PX-128M2S

I read several topics on the subject of choosing an SSD drive, and settled on the Curcial M4 128 GB based on reviews and in terms of reliability / price / speed ratio. But now you can't buy them in Moscow.

Therefore, I choose between a Crucial M4 with a smaller volume (respectively, a lower speed) and a drive on the same Marvell 88SS9174 Plextor PX-128M2S controller (higher volume). Everything else on the same controller is much more expensive.

First of all, reliability and speed are important for me, what can you say about these SSDs?

Did a lot of digging on the internet and dug up the following
Plextor 128 :
Sequential read: 350 mb/s
Sequential write: 200 mb/s
Random read: 18 mb/s
Random write: 50 mb/s
CrystalMark test. Sources: one , two
Crucial M4, 64 gb :
Sequential read: 400 mb/s
Sequential write: 110 mb/s
Random read: 22 mb/s
Random write: 55 mb/s
Sources: one , two
Just in case, I'll add to comparison Intel 320 Series 80gb :
Sequential read: 280 mb/s
Sequential write: 95 mb/s
Random read: 23 mb/s
Random write: 47 mb/s

Intel 510 on the same Marvell 88SS9174 is more affordable. The speed is slightly slower, but are you sure that you will feel it in real tasks?

And what are you more specifically interested in about the M4?
In terms of reliability (my personal experience): the third week, the flight is normal.
In terms of speed, there seemed to be many reviews in which the speed was indicated. In any case, I’ll add, I just launched aida64 and tested the M4 64Gb with the built-in test:
linear speed: on average 400, but somehow it is uneven, periodically quite large sections (2/5 of the total volume) up to 512, and it can be seen that in 512 rested (xs what limits it, perhaps due to the fact that the system disk), periodically falls and jumps around 350.
Random access: 300
Access delay: 0.11

I was also interested in the issue of buying an SSD, I read a huge number of reviews, tests and other things. As a result, I settled on Curcial M4 128 GB.

Hmm, the prices are not encouraging at all. I took m4 128gb in July for 7000r, now it costs 8-9 :(

Didn't find what you were looking for?
