Soft RAID 5 or LVM, which one to choose?

There is an HP Proliant server with integrated SmartArray and 3 HDDs. Initially it was supposed to make RAID-5. But when installing Debian, it turned out that he stubbornly sees 3 separate disks. Questions are as follows:
1. Is there an option to run RAID?
2. If not, what is better/more logical/optimal than Soft RAID or putting the system on a part of the first disk and collecting the rest into a single space via LVM?

Why are you pitting raid5 against lvm? If you do not need redundancy, then you need to compare at least JBOD and LVM. If needed, then raid 5 or raid 10 (linux raid can also be on 3 disks), on top of which you can already deploy lvm if you wish.

Make soft RAID5 (mdadm), LVM on top of it.
Both are supported by the Debian installer.
As correctly noted above, RAID and LVM are tools of different levels for different tasks.

Late with advice, but still.
If the OS persistently sees three separate disks, then most likely the RAID mode is disabled in the BIOS Setup Utility of the server.

I'll just add.
Some built-in RAID in HP servers are soft ones.
In particular, RAID controllers of the 100th series
They are only supported by Windows.
In any case, they are soft, which means it's easier to build a RAID on mdadm or buy another RAID controller if you need hardware support.
