Should You Format an SSD?

Hey Habr!
I have a laptop with an OCZ Nocti 60GB SSD running Windows 7 x64.
Since I want to reinstall the system, the question arose - is it worth formatting the SSD and how to do it correctly so as not to harm. Thank you.

It's very simple:
1) Boot the system via the installation CD / USB stick, this will give you the opportunity to delete all disk partitions using the standard Windows installer.
2) Actually, through the installer, delete all disk partitions.
3) Create a new partition from unpartitioned space, install Windows there.
Everything is ready, no additional gestures and software are required, the disk will be free and the installation will be 100% clean. You won't do any damage to the system.

I would not bother with such a question, quick formatting and that's it. Even if you make a full format, it will add only sixty gigs of recording.

Fast is enough. But repartitioning is better done by Windows.

It is definitely worth formatting, the OS will send the TRIM command to zero blocks (if there is corresponding support in the OS, of course), and then ssd will know that these blocks can be used immediately, instead of trying to delay writing to them.
