Should I change the CPU in my laptop?
Essence. There is a nubuck on core i3 3120m and GT 720m. The performance of this laptop is not so hot.
Does it make sense to replace with i7-3612qm (3632qm - 100 MHz difference between them)? (procs are 100% suitable for replacement)
Will I get a 2x boost in games?
The laptop has 4 gigabytes of ram, ssd + hdd. (I will add RAM only if the CPU is replaced, otherwise I will just sell this laptop)

No, you won't get a 2x boost in games. Games use video and operative more.
Processes can be upgraded but difficult, the first thing you need to think about is the cooling system, you still need to change it along with the process, but this is almost never feasible because there is stupidly no space and proper heat dissipation
Of course, it all depends on what games you end up playing on your computer.
If the statement “i3 does not load video cards even by half” is verified empirically, then the replacement makes some sense, but only if the indicated i7 is already on hand, or there is an opportunity to buy it very profitably. Otherwise, for serious games, I'm not sure what to bother with. GT 720m is by no means a gaming card
