Should a freelancing portfolio be made up of real projects?

Hello everybody. I have been studying CSS, HTML and JS for a long time, although I got interested in programming at school about 10 years ago (I sat on c++ and Python for a long time). I made a lot of layouts (about 20 works, which I consider extremely good). I want to do freelancing, but the real existence of a portfolio repels me. Is my portfolio considered valid or are only works on real orders considered? Thanks everyone for the replies.

A portfolio for working as a layout designer - only "live" layout templates, the layout quality of which can be checked using any third-party services.

You can do work specifically for the portfolio. Experience with real orders is needed to improve skills in sales and management. Freelancing is important.
The fact that you do not have experience, the client does not need to know.

If your projects do not have fishy text, and they really look like live sites, no one will ask you questions.

If I do projects for myself, they are as real as those made for clients, I have spent my time and money on them and see no reason to hide them from the portfolio.
