Selection of the optimal engine for a social network

Hi all!

I got a lump in my throat, such an interesting task.
At the moment, we are making a highly specialized social network (you don’t have to look far for an example - drive2.ru).

Briefly, the functional:
- there is not a particularly complex system of relationships between users;
- there is an opportunity to post, a kind of blog;
- users can make friends, comment and make their own photo galleries.

Actually, the problem is in the CMS. More than one dog was eaten on CMS and I know the Internet, I know how to use it. Writing a new one from scratch is at least stupid (the time spent on writing ready-made modules can be spent more rationally).

1. I know and use Wordpress - not suitable - the functionality for the social network is not enough. Even different hybrids, plugins, etc. will not help.

2. LiveStreet is often praised , but it's really vague.

3. There is also elgg , but the reviews are not encouraging.

Attention, a question for specialists: what would you recommend as a CMS? They made a lot of sites, but specifically in social networks there is little experience. Maybe somebody knows. Thanks to

The problem is that quantity does not equal quality.

there is a contact-like social network based on joomla - though not open source - called jomsocial. it took the truth to finish it - but the process is going on even with a creak.

There are plenty of ready-made CMS for building social networks. For example habrahabr.ru/blogs/web_2_0/22267/

everything that is opernsource - everything for some reason will not
work, so you need to take it and do it for yourself as you like. We did 6 months (profile/friends/albums).

elgg tried - it didn’t work, it’s kind of vague, like many other options (one of the requirements is flexible rights management in “groups” and flexible graph visibility settings). Now their “social network” has been frozen, but “in the background” we are looking at either Drupal or writing our own based on frameworks (so as not to waste time on the basic functionality of the application)

Disagree. Quite intelligible, with a good community, a bunch of features and plugins, and was specially built for the right social networks. For the next Habr clone, that's it.
If not, then I agree.that you will bring CMS to mind, that you will develop your own, it will take time and effort in the same way. Of the whole bunch of engines for social networks, apart from LiveStreet, there is nothing to look at, it looks like an open source ERP - a good and free thing, but you can’t do without programmers and integrators.

I found another option: building Drupal with modules for the social network . I picked it up - I liked it, but the Drupal version is very outdated. So far, I have settled on building something similar to 6.19 for myself, slightly changing the composition of the modules. Of course, this is the most time-consuming option, but it seems to be the most flexible and customizable of the ready-made ones. I wonder why no one suggested Drupal above?

Check out InstantCMS. It seemed to me very good, although it will have something to work on.
