Revert project permission changes?

Made a bunch of edits, 40+ files, cleaned the cache folder, updated the rights to the entire project instead of the cache folder, and now, before doing a review before the commit, I realized where I messed up. The whole project is now counted as edits, changes in permissions. To roll back the entire project until the rights to the project are updated means losing 3-4 hours of work, it will take forever to roll back 40+ files to files, because you need to check each file or most of it from memory where you made changes.

git config core.fileMode false
will not work anymore, it should have been done a little earlier)
