Replacing the processor in a laptop. What problems can there be?
I want to replace the processor c i3 370m with i7 720qm in a laptop (sony vpceb3c4r). In this regard, several questions arise.
1. Power and heating.
The intel website says that the current processor needs ( link ) 35w of power, and for the new ( link ) 45w.
How to know enough food? And if not enough, what will happen? Just not getting all the performance out of the processor?
Overheating should not be a problem. the current system copes with a bang. And they shouldn't make much of a difference. True or not?
2. Compatibility.
Both processors support the PGA988 connector. I looked both at the manufacturer's website and at the wiki . In theory, there should be no problems with performance.
What else is worth paying attention to?

1) will not start if there is not enough power
2) Overheating will occur if the tdp is higher, see processor specs for heat dissipation, all the same, i7 is a top-end processor and heats up much more.
3) you need to look at the compatibility according to the mother,
go to the description of the mother and see what processes it supports, you may need to update the bios
This is not food, but heat dissipation. May overheat under load if the cooling is not working very well.
You need to see if the BIOS supports a specific processor model, if it does, it should work fine.
