The font developer's website has version 2.0 with Cyrillic support: www.latofonts.com/lato-free-fonts/#download .
They write that it should soon appear in Google Fonts.
There is news on the site, yes. ( webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:yKiF... )
There is one problem here: latofonts.com has been lying for a long time. But you can download it from different places, for example here: https://github.com/societyinforisk/irmbok/blob/mas...
font yadi.sk/d/SqW4iGxqhKTJn
available for download version c Cyrillic, with 9 weights (hairline, thin, light, regular, medium, semibold, bold, heavy, black) for each of which there is an italic.
We had attempts to remake Lato and add Cyrillic. The first version turned out, but it doesn't look very good. Maybe people with similar experience and the availability of free time will respond here to take on the revision of the font?
I'm just not sure how much the font license allows.
I also liked this font, unsubscribed to the author that it would be cool if the second version appeared in GF, to which he received the answer:
"For a few days only: on Google is still version 1.0x, but today I received info they updated to 2.0x (with cyrillic, greek, vietnam, IPA etc…)"
Only 2 days have passed since the answer, the font has not been added to GF yet. But there is a glimmer of hope that this is about to happen, and another excellent one will be added to the small database of GF Cyrillic fonts.
the font is clumsily rendered in FF, which I just didn’t do. I took it from the site webfont. don't know what could be wrong? clip2net.com/s/3cFSuLx and the number 5 also has a similar jamb
Cyrillic is best connected via https://typekit.com/fonts/lato
