Recommend a handheld scanner
Please advise which one to buy. The goal is a quick manual scan (without a pisyuk is highly desirable) of documents in the library / at work.
Anticipating the comments about the camera, it is difficult to position the camera correctly (in order to accurately take a picture of the entire sheet), and the focus can miss, which is why I thought about this device.
I would like to see your experience (who has) using these gadgets, if possible - recommendations for choosing, and whether this device is worth the money.
PS I would like to see an objective opinion about these particular devices. I understand that most people use smartphones for such purposes with cameras and software, or soap dishes. But for me, this is not an option - with the current phone (5800 Nokia) and the current SLR, taking photos of documents is simply inconvenient. And things that suit me in terms of their main functions for something ... Well, in general, I am an adherent of specialized devices.

Ultraportable DocuPen RC800 scanner - no bigger than a pen
Until a few years ago, scanners were bulky desktop devices that were slow and took up a lot of space. However, progress has not stood still: modern scanners are very fast and at the same time very compact. Sometimes they can even be called miniature - at least in the case of the PLANon scanner, this is the case - the device looks very much like an ordinary ballpoint pen. However, this "pen" is a full color scan…

I remember the days when scanners were big and noisy machines, but like everything else in the electronics world, they got smaller and smaller every year, getting smaller, lighter and noisier. The result of this process is what is currently the world's smallest scanner, the ScanSnap S300, which packs all the features and conveniences of its larger brothers. The ease of use, quality and friendliness of this machine is simply impressive. After installing all the necessary programs and drivers…

IRISPen Translator: The most portable scanner 7/2/2005 0:06:43
IRIS has developed a new original device - IRISPen Translator scanner with USB interface. The principle of operation of the device is as follows: the user simply moves the scanner over the text written in a foreign language, after which the recognized and translated text automatically appears in the required user application (spreadsheets, text editors, databases or email clients). In addition, the device can even “read” the translated text aloud…

Enjoyed this .
It scans well, but there are disadvantages:
- If there is, for example, a sticker on the sheet, or there are crumbs / grains of sand under it, you can “stumble” at this place and fill up the scan.
- Thick magazines are inconvenient for them to scan, but, in principle, it is inconvenient on a regular one.
- I worked only with my native usb-cable with a ferrite barrel, but with others it was not possible to merge files: it hung.
- Does not always recognize "your course deviations" well - images may turn out to be somewhat curved.
- There is no preview (yet, with obviously overwhelming results, it displays an error).
I compared the result with the scanner at work, it turned out to be a normal white color, and the scans from the worker have to be edited each time to remove excess gray.
Also read the comments on dx.
PS
I would not say that this is an ideal solution to problems, in some cases the camera confidently wins, for example, on the same thick magazines and books. This scanner is best for scanning single sheets.
By the way, it works fast.
And yes, it is autonomous, it is defined by the computer as a card reader.
Yes, others disappeared, but there were many, even as there were fountain pens, with a scanning field of 2..3 cm, they stitched the image themselves and even recognized the text and read it with their voice.
I just take pictures on the phone, with a good camera, everything is usually more than readable, and everything that needs to be corrected is corrected in paint.
5 megapixels decides.
As for positioning, again there is software (including directly on the phone) that finds the sheets on the pictures and makes a picture where only the sheet is at a normal angle.
img152.imageshack.us/i/85744531.jpg/ - an example of a successful scan, 2.8meg, 600dpi.
img121.imageshack.us/i/80430045.jpg/ - an example of a scan of the 156th page, where the page is already strongly bent on the spread, it is unsuccessful - the hand trembled twice (the scanner did not notice this and did not give an error).
books with not very flexible spreads are best “scanned” by a camera with a manual focus set, mounted on a tripod or simply standing flat on the surface,
and individual sheets of A4 or less format are scanned by page / traction scanners, like this
Today, in the next replenishment on DX, I saw another scanner from skypix, but I don’t see any differences other than in appearance and price.
And a couple more:
The first one looks like another one from skypix, the device is also almost identical, the characteristics are not really indicated.
The second one looks more like a camera than it probably is. In my opinion, if a given scanner has a good “scanning” area, then it is much more convenient than all skypix-like scanners. The price bites. There was already a similar one on DX, but at about the same price.
If the author of the question does not mind, I can continue to add new models that appeared on DX from time to time.
