Question about studies, WInRT, C# and all that stuff?

I decided that I should do something useful in my free time. The goal is to start writing applications for Windows and WP. Can I learn C#? Do I need to learn how to write using WinRT (Windows Runtime to write a single application in WinStore)? If so, do you know a good course? How important is knowledge of .NET? Did I set the goal and formulate the questions correctly?

Where to start learning C# (literature) - there was a question What books to start learning C# from!?
MVA courses and a couple of other resources are also listed there.
When you learn C#, you learn .NET in some way. The first time you can not bother at all.

Can I learn C#?

Can
If you want to write applications for the WinRT OS, then there is no point in this, because. Microsoft admitted that RT is a dead end branch of development, and they will not work on it further.
For Win/WP development, .net is the most efficient. Start at least with something, learn C#

Start learning C#. To get started, practice on simple console applications. XAML is good to learn from books about WPF. Come up with or look for your own puzzles. The best way to learn how to write applications is to write applications. In general, the combination of theory and practice.

At the moment, WinRT technology is promoted by Microsoft for the development of WinStore applications. This technology was used in Windows 10. As for RT, they most likely abandoned WindowsRT (an operating system of the Windows 8 family).
