How to change home folder address in windows 8.1?
Hello! I am using windows 8.1 (license). The microsoft profile is being used. As a result, I have the following address for my home folder: C:/Users/Alexander/ . As you know, many programs (in particular, console ones) do not like Cyrillic on the way (and it is very convenient to store everything in the home folder).
The question arises: How to change the user's home folder, say, to C:/Users/Alex/ ?

If the problem is only with Cyrillic and Russian paths, then the easiest way would be to create a symlink to Alexander
mklink /D c:\users\alex c:\users\Alexander
There are instructions on the Internet, I tried several, I don’t remember what the problems were in the end, but I came to recreating the profile. To do this, create an offline profile with the username Alex, and only then link it to your live ID.
you can just move my documents/desktop/downloads somewhere towards the d drive: for example, by going to the properties of the corresponding folders in the libraries
I followed the first part of this tutorial superuser.com/questions/495290/how-to-rename-user-...
True, I tried to cheat and do everything from the same user. Do not repeat my mistake - Windows will think that the profile is damaged and you will have to restore it. And if you do it according to the instructions, then everything should be fine.
