Proxy server on the local network?

Hello help a beginner, such a question if there is a small local area with one router (household) peer-to-peer network (win 10 clients) I want to raise a proxy server for at least some kind of control, and so the question is, a proxy (a physical computer with installed software (usergate, traffic inspector and others) connect with one physical interface? so that in the same LAN there is or need 2 interfaces? everywhere it’s just written in the manuals one looks at the “local” the other on the Internet, so I can’t understand if everything goes through the router for me, then what for I have two interfaces ?Please explain and do not laugh Thank you in advance!

A proxy server does not need to have two interfaces.

in the current realities, a proxy server without dancing with a tambourine (transparent proxy + ssl bump) does not give any control. The maximum you can get is the hostname of the visited site.
do not solve administrative issues technically.

Before answering, I would like to clarify - is there any money for licensing all this Happiness (usergate, traffic inspector etc.) or as usual?
A proxy does not have to have two interfaces. This simplifies the work, but is not a prerequisite. The request comes to the proxy through eth0, for example, it is proxied on it and goes out on behalf of the proxy through the same eth0. The downside is that this will heavily load the network port on which the proxy hangs.
And yes, without bumping the statistics will be incomplete and inaccurate.

What exactly needs to be controlled?
Proxying is very difficult - now SSL is everywhere, so if you want everything to work, you will have to do a decent job.

Well, you yourself said that you need a proxy. So you need to wrap all traffic on the proxy - in fact, make it the default gateway.
Therefore, the scheme is this -
your network - proxy - router.
And from the diagram it can be seen that the proxy has just two interfaces, one looks into the local network, the second to the router.
In general, proxies can be made as you like, and not necessarily according to this scheme, but in your case, for control - exactly like that, because there you have not only and not so much a proxy, but a software gateway with the function of a proxy, firewall, etc. d.

1 interface is enough.
