Problems with Optibay in MacBook?
Dear, but can anyone help me? I bought an optibay in a black macbook, early 2008, which is still labeled 4.1 - a bootable SSD, and put the old native hard from a beech into an optibay.
And now I have a hemorrhoid - when you turn on the laptop, then the hard is caught and you can see it through the finder, otherwise, for some reason, the ATA device is not picked up and, as a result, the hard is not visible in the system, and the device manager is empty.
Moreover, this all happens randomly, if you don’t see it, it may appear on the second reboot, or maybe on the 100500th. How to live-ta? (((

Sounds like a bad connection. It is necessary to check that the Optibay did not move away when assembling the computer or try another Optibay in case the lace is junk there.
I personally have a hard drive in Optibay, I don’t see much difference. I found Optibay cooler than the original place.
And try to rearrange the hard to its native place, and the SSD to optibey. Theoretically, nothing should change, but in practice it can help :)
If you were in Moscow, you could give one extra optibey for inexpensively :) (I took two just in case)
With Chinese goods, this is normal.
At first I bought one, but it simply did not fit into my late 2008 - it was 5 mm longer than necessary.
It didn’t really work to finalize it due to structural features (and not very direct hands of mine), so as a result of unsuccessful finishing, it was abandoned somewhere. His appearance was not presentable, but I can give a part with a train, if I haven’t thrown it away yet.
As a result, I ordered two more different Optibeys (fortunately cheap ones). One got up without problems and works, and the second has not yet received - lying in the mail.
It says in the description that it fits the firmware from late 2008, so I don’t know whether it will suit you or not. I’ll give you rubles for 500, just write in a personal, otherwise they don’t like the market on Habré :)
