problem with RAID SAS3080X-HP, does not see one disk
Tell me what could be the problem?
There is an HP DL140G3 server, it had a separate external controller SAS3080X-HP on the LSI SAS1068 chip and two SAS disks of 73Gb, everything worked great, but the screws are too small.
I bought 2 SATA screws of 2 TB each, since the server is for a home lab, and not for production, it was the volume that was important, not the performance (to store a bunch of ISOs and virtual machines)
I put the screws in the baskets, only the 1st basket is seen , the second screw does not see, I tried to rearrange everything (screws, baskets, laces from the controller) in any case, basket 2 is not visible, what could be the problem?
I tried to abandon the external raid and use the sata controller directly on the motherboard (Embedded Sata Raid), there is another problem, both screws are seen correctly, but when you try to create a raid1, its volume is 1TB, not 2 ... maybe someone came across similar problems?
I'm attaching screenshots

On paper, the internal controller only supports 2x500GB (non-hot plug) or 2x750 (hot-plug):

What kind of SAS3080X-HP? Maybe it's all about the old firmware and it can be updated?
1) make two raids of 1 GB each, as a rule, a large one will still break later
2) use software raid using OS tools - you are unlikely to notice a difference in performance
a small update, instead of one dvuhterabaytnik put a screw on 160Gb
tried the following options:
basket 1 - 2TB -
basket 2 is visible - 160GB -
basket 1 is visible - empty -
basket 2 is visible - 160GB - basket 1 is visible - 160GB - basket 2 is
visible
- 2TB-NOT VISIBLE
The controller does not support screws. See the list of supported screws in the documentation.
The problem with the chip on the mother is sometimes helped by updating the firmware, but from your description it is clear that the onboard chip also does not support your screws.
