Please tell us about K0 stepping, what is the profit in it?

I read the news + found a BIOS update for my Acer Aspire 5740G.

Moving the Intel Core i5-660 processor to the K0 stepping will bring the following changes:
* New S-spec and MM values
* Extended CPUID value will change from 0x00020652 to 0x00020655
* Host RevID value will change from 0x12 to 0x18
* Support for the Processor Context ID (PCID) feature will be added

What is the benefit of all these changes? Fingers if possible...

Processor stepping is a physical phenomenon, and BIOS is a program. They are not related in any way.

Roughly speaking, "processor stepping" is its "version". The BIOS needs to be updated so that it (BIOS) can work properly with the new "version" of the processor.
The manufacturer releases a new "version" of the processor, in which they corrected the errors found. What mistakes they were, we may not even know.

Well, Yandex immediately told me that the main profit is in overclocking potential.
