Patent registration. Which region should a programmer choose?

Hello everyone,

I am a programmer, I will work as an individual entrepreneur with an American company, and so I have a question:
Since I am collaborating remotely with an American company, from the point of view of a patent, I am not physically tied to any of the regions of Russia, and so when registering Do I need to register a patent at the place of registration or at the place of actual residence (I live in a different region than the place of registration)?
Are there any pitfalls if I choose a patent at the place of actual residence?
PS If there is no difference, then what prevents me in this case from making a patent in the most inexpensive region of the country and continuing to operate and live in another region?
