OS X Lion not seeing new Plextor 128 M3 SSD?

Patient: MBP Late 2011 on SSD 128 Gb
Donor organ: new SSD Plextor 128 M3
Operation:
1. Instead of a CD drive, a second SSD from Plextor is connected via optibay;
2. After turning on the second ssd, it is not immediately determined, the spotlight goes into indexing for “endless” 9 minutes;
3. A few minutes after turning on, a second SSD appears, in the list of devices it is determined in Serial-ATA;
4. Allows you to copy several files to yourself, but after 10 minutes the disk does not show signs of life, copying goes to "infinity";
5. The drive disappears from the system with an unsafe eject pop-up.
I did 4 inclusions, all 4 times the picture is about the same. It was possible to format the disk at the first connection, and then from the n-th attempt (there was an error about the fact that the disk was not initialized by the system), then there was another attempt to delete the partition / format it in safe mode, but nothing helps.
Question: Was the SSD dead at birth or am I missing something?

@Pirata

So, I did everything as Cresh advised. I swapped the disks, the system remained on the factory Toshiba ssd, which was connected via optibay. Plextor sat in the main nest. The lion started up, everything works smartly, the new disk was formatted in a new way, there are no obvious problems.
Factory Drive Ratings:
Vendor: Intel
Product: 6 Series Chipset
Link Speed: 6 Gigabit
Negotiated Link Speed: 3 Gigabit
Plextor SSD Ratings:
Vendor: Intel
Product: 6 Series Chipset
Link Speed: 6 Gigabit
Negotiated Link Speed: 6 Gigabit
Q: If I I understand correctly that Plextor is faster than the built-in Toshiba.
1. Could the speed of the system disk, in theory, drop if it is connected via optibay?
2. Does it make sense to keep the system disk in optibay, leaving os x on the factory hardware?

@Cresh

Your SSD runs on a SATA 6Gb/s interface, it's Sata III, so you may need to swap hard drives
Please note that in MBP Late 2011, Serial ATA controllers for drive and hard drive differ at least in that the hard one supports Sata III and the drive one only SATA II
Try Acronis Disk Doctor , look closely at the SMART readings

Optibay working because before that it was hdd. The screw was formatted in Mac Os Ext logged several times, but the formatting process itself was somehow very slow, periodically causing the carousel of death (cursor).

“didn’t catch “leaving os x on the factory hardware?”” - on the factory disk, i.e. without reinstallation, just swapped disks around.
On question 2 - I studied the question about adaptation, so the original goal was to leave the factory disk under the system at the expense of speed, and use the new one for third-party software such as PS, etc. As a result, if the very fact that the system disk is in Optibay does not have a negative effect on system performance, with your permission, I think to leave everything as it is.
One last question: Should TRIM be enabled on the second (non-system) drive?
Thank you all for your help. I take my hat off to Cresh.

@Cresh

Whether TRIM should be enabled or not is the question of the whole post.
Firstly, if you decide to do this for you here
Secondly, I highly recommend this article
Thirdly, take a closer look at the topic of trim support by your controller (you have Marvel) this should clarify a lot
In any case, make sure that the manufacturer does not explicitly prohibit the use of this technology in warranty obligations and remember not Enabling trim should in theory kill the drive faster than with it, and enabling it can lead to controller failures.
For example, I have it turned off, but I have an old firmware, as the attentive DevMan noticed , if I update, I will turn it on.
