Organization of a homemade competition. What's wrong?

Please tell me what I'm doing wrong. As it turned out, it was not easy to organize a competition. For all the time there was only 1 participant who completed the article for the competition. It is not enough to make conditions and offer prizes ... Please tell me, how not very experienced in this matter - What am I doing wrong?

The main prize is $30 The amount is not big, but this is the biggest reward that I found in Runet for something like this.

Some of the articles are spoofed from somewhere. At least I have seen them before on Habré. Although perhaps this is just a cross-post of the author in different sources.
It is not enough to declare prizes and arrange a competition. You also need an audience. Writing an intelligent post is a rather laborious task, it will take more than one hour. People do this not for the sake of prizes (which still need to be received, and this is far from a fact), but for the sake of feedback and moral satisfaction. Amuse your CSF and get a lot of comments. Until you have a stable party (at least 1000 people a day), then it is pointless to hold contests.

For your clarification, you will definitely recognize the fucking anger on Habré :)

I have an audience of under 10k per day and a more extensive topic and a prize fund of a kilodollar, but I don’t see a wild line of people who want to write an article. In the first days, people shot what was already in their heads and they would have just written to me, and then everything calmed down and moves slowly.

What do you want? You don't have a community! There are 58 registered users. We subtract from them friends who have registered at your request. Next, we count how many of the remaining ones wrote more than 1 article and how many of them actively comment on other people's articles, get 10-15 people.
You have 17 people in contact, 6 people on Facebook. At the same time, VKontakte, Facebook and Twitter are the main channels for promoting contests.
Conclusion: the lack of activity in the competition was easily predictable.
