One account for authorization on all services of the company?

I am interested in such a question as in small companies there is an organization of access to all services, for example, to mail, jabber and some kind of otrs. I want to test such solutions and learn how to administer them.
What are the general solutions? After all, it is not an option to create a bunch of users with your hands to all services.

Integration with Windows domain or its equivalent FreeIPA will allow all services to use one user base.
(For real geeks, you can install and configure everything by hand - LDAP, Kerberos, etc.)
