Need for ECC memory?

I asked myself: is it worth spending money on ecc RAM for a file server and a server with backups (in fact, only the load level is different)?
For which services is ecc not critical?

https://habr.com/ru/post/328370/ - probability: failure of thousands of machines weekly, and in your case it will be an imperceptible failure, which you will learn about strongly after.
ecc memory reduces the chance of a catastrophic failure by an order of magnitude, but does not eliminate it.
estimate the cost of data loss (not all but a few) and if it suits you, don't bother with ecc.

Depends on the amount of memory.
The more memory, the more likely it is to get an error in memory.
For a file server, an error in memory is equal to an error in disk data.

ECC provides an additional guarantee of data integrity - if the RAM starts to fail, it will report this before the corrupted data is written to disk.
