ML: Should I start?

Salute to all. Explain, please, such a thing.
I'm 19, 2nd year law student. I have been wanting to change my specialization for a long time, before it seems to be too late, namely, I got interested in machine learning. I practically didn’t do programming, but mathematics shouldn’t seem to be a problem, there is a physics and mathematics profile from school, albeit pretty forgotten for a year and a half.
The bottom line: does it make sense and if so, what should be the approximate trajectory (where, how, what to study, what to focus on, etc.)? Thank you.
