Micro SDHC <-> HDD?

We have available any device with a microSDHC memory card slot, in a specific question, a car DVR.
The question is, there are additional devices in the form of an HDD that would have a connection to the microSDHC memory card slot and emulate the operation of a memory card of various sizes (2, 4, 8, 16, etc.) when the volume of the “virtual memory card” is filled, the smart program expands the volume of the card, or copies all information from the virtual card to another hdd directory, thereby freeing up the volume of the virtual memory card, everything is transparent for the device using this card.
Is there such a thing? :)

And what happens to the HDD in the event of an accident?

IMHO (so do not kick), when a friend was concerned about the amount of memory in the DVR (before the purchase), we simply took a webcam that was suitable in terms of parameters, put it in place of the registrar, connected it to the netbook of the car receiving power from the on-board network, and disabled actions when closing in the netbook lids and stuffed it into a shockproof box. It came out cheap and cheerful.

No, I have not seen such devices. It can be developed if desired. But, given the buggy of DVRs (and I have a lot of experience with them, I tried several models), I would not reduce the already low reliability of the DVR with additional bells and whistles.
If you want to have a large archive of video recordings, just buy a DVR that records on HDD. Such devices are usually made on the basis of a computer running *NIX. There will be 4 entrances, any cameras can be connected there. The cost of such a solution is from 7-8 thousand rubles. The cost of a good color camera is ~ 2500 rubles. At the same time, solve the second problem - a hidden installation. In the summer they blew my glass and took away the DVR with a radar detector. I don't think I need to explain how unpleasant it all is + a sleepless night of talking to the police.
In addition, it is not clear how to implement the functionality described by you:
>> when the volume of the “virtual memory card” is filled, the smart program expands the volume of the card, or copies all the information from the virtual card to another hdd directory, thereby freeing up the volume of the virtual memory card.
map size? Changes the volume of the map on the fly? How should the host device react to this?
Freeing up the amount of virtual memory - how is it? Those. deletes files from the card, while the host device thinks they are still there? How can it work?
You can probably write a program that will track the creation of new files and copy them to the screw. But in general, all this is very complicated and meaningless. You need to somehow read the card in parallel while the host device writes there.
Just buy a ready-made device that meets your needs and that's it.

In general, carrying a working screw in a car is evil, it will not live very long.
