Mac Mini MD388 - in which slot is the HDD installed upon purchase (upper, lower)?
I want to buy a Mac Mini MD388 and add an SSD there - for this you need to buy a cable, in fact, the cables are different for the upper and lower compartments - hence the question)))
Or do they all have stock HDDs installed in the same way?
Well, this is a 2012 MacMini - release type.

I have a model MD388 (just like you want late 2012). By default, it has a terabyte screw. Installed in the top slot. Under it there is another place for the screw. If you want to install ssd and that's it, you don't need to buy any cables, you only need screwdrivers and desire. The cable is removed from the old hdd and inserted into the ssd. Everything works like clockwork.
An additional cable is needed only if you want to install an additional, second hard drive.
Actually, I did just that, bought another cable and installed a second hdd. Now the system works on the SSD, and the file washer on the HDD.
I bought a train here, but it's better to order from China. youroptibay.ru/all-for-upgrade/upgrade-kits/mac-mi... (I took a set with rubber bands and a screwdriver, but this is not necessary
