Laptop repair: do-it-yourself or SC?

Background:
As always, I closed the lid of my laptop and went to the store. Upon arrival, it turned out that he did not go to sleep (it happened more than once in principle) - a black screen with a backlight. Of the features were: strong fan noise and a complete lack of response to the shutdown button (long / short ... none at all). The battery was removed from the laptop a long time ago, the power was pulled out - the laptop turned off. I plugged in the power - I press the power button - no reaction.
What to do?
I see two options:
1) Repair the laptop yourself
Cons:
- there is a real opportunity to completely ruin the laptop and make it unrepairable
Pros:
+ there is a desire to learn how to repair laptops (“they “burn out” something regularly)
+ possible economic benefits of the process
There is a soldering iron, a multimeter, an oscilloscope. Experience repairing laptops and similar equipment - no. There is a long "listened" course in the basics of electrical engineering while studying at the university.
2) Bring the pros
to the SC :
+ there is a chance to get a working laptop
cons:
- it costs money
- there is a chance to stumble upon an unscrupulous SC and it will cost a lot of money.
I ask myself a question - repair it yourself according to the recommendations on the forums or carry it to the SC.
Laptops are flying, a breakdown is possibly trifling, and running into an unscrupulous SC (Moscow time) - they can “rip off” money - like for half the cost of a laptop or something else to break more.
In the answers, I would like to hear your positive / negative experience of self-repair or repair in the SC and recommendations for action.

Laptop under warranty? If yes, then carry it to the SC. If not, then you can poke around to see if something has flown out of nutrition, but if there are no problems, then it’s difficult to do diagnostics on your own. For example, thermal shock on a bridge or a BGA blade would be difficult to determine. It is only necessary to take into account that with traces of self-repair of the SC, the payment is usually quite high, they do not like it.
I prophesy. Your north bridge burned down ... They will warm it up in the SC and advise you to sell the laptop, because warming it up will revive it for 2 months (maximum a year), and after the sale, add a pretty penny and buy a new laptop.

Northbridge or BIOS firmware
Take it to a more or less competent service and tell them about both options. If people are adequate, they will first change the BIOS and only then they will start to breed you to a new northerner
If it's no longer under warranty, I'd open it up and inspect it. It is quite possible that this is some trifle that is determined “by eye”. And then, in which case, I would carry it to the service.
For example, as I am not an expert in this matter, I would give it to a (good) service center at least for diagnostics.
You can also flash the bios yourself. Check the operation of the fans too. You can also check the temperature of the HD yourself, it can be great to get warm and the fans can't cope. If the bridge is definitely in service, but it’s still dangerous to sell later (in the morning you want to see a beautiful face in the mirror)
