Is there any way to reset Ubuntu to its original settings?
Situation example. There is a work laptop with Ubuntu, fully available for use by the employee, so there is a lot of personal information (browsers, cloud storage). Suppose an employee wants to quit and does not want this information to fall into the wrong hands. Is it possible somehow to return the system to the initial settings (where this data will not be), but without reinstalling the operating system (let's say there is no flash drive with you)? To make it clearer what interests me - Android has such an opportunity and after using it, the system looks like it looked at the time of buying the device.

If the employee did not know the root password, then he still cannot write to /home. Save your homework and wipe it. But storing personal data on a corporate car is a vicious practice, it leads to the leakage of this very data.
