Is the D-Link DSL-2640U router suitable for a non-dsl connection?

Until today, I had ADSL with an adsl router, tomorrow they will come to connect another provider via FTTB.
They themselves are not engaged in routers (neither selling nor configuring), and I am an outright layman in this matter.
Such a question, is my D-Link DSL-2640U router suitable for a non-dsl connection? Or do you need to buy a new one? Without Wi-Fi, I would not want to stay even for a couple of days, as well as throwing money on an unnecessary box.

2640 this is a b / g wi-fi, which is severely slow,
plus it’s stupid like I don’t know what - you can’t pick up screws, nor torrents
will come with a cable - he can distribute wi-fi from the wire
if there is no dregs with authorization from provider

On stock firmware - no.
On the alternative - yes: wiki.openwrt.org/toh/d-link/dsl-2640u But pay attention to Wi-Fi 802.11g Stability Problem.

On stock firmware, you can assign one of the LAN ports as a WAN port and set up a connection to your FTTB (I recommend updating the firmware to the latest firmware; in the latest firmware, this is done in a couple of clicks).
Only IP-TV on it works with significant glitches, and even torrents download at 80-90 megabits if you connect via PPPoE (although everything else does not work at this moment).
