Is the 3-pin fan header compatible with the 4-pin header on the motherboard?

The case has 3 fans with 3-pin. A two-hour search showed that motherboards (at least ATX with 1150 sockets) are equipped with a maximum of one 3-pin connector, but there are no problems with 4-pin connectors.
Is it possible to plug a 3-pin connector into a 4-pin connector? Or maybe there are special adapters?
ps I didn’t google anything except discussing a similar problem of connecting a processor cooler, but I didn’t really understand anything and didn’t get an answer to my question.
pss Or maybe I was looking badly and there are still boards with at least two, and preferably three 3-pin connectors?

In cases, there is usually only one fan that is connected through the motherboard, while the rest are powered through a molex, directly from the PSU.
4 pin for fans with thermometer. If you connect a regular one, bios will swear, for a problem with temperature measurement.

Compatible. There is only one way to insert. Guides will not allow you to insert incorrectly

Yes. 3 pin can be connected to 4 pin. The only difference there is:

PWM

and its absence.
