Is the 2011 MacBook Pro up to date now?

Hello everyone, is the macbook pro 13 late 2011 relevant in 2018. I take it for simple Internet surfing programs and studying programming along with practice, and will there still be problems with the poppy at the university, when submitting any work?

I use ThinkPad x230 of 2012 (Core i5, 8Gb RAM, SSD) - I surf, I code in IntellijIDEA without problems. I suppose the poppy is usable if the RAM is at least 8GB.
