Is stripping twisted pair with side cutters the new normal?
Good day. I recently went to the installers of networks, crimping was needed.
I took it, and in it a knife that cuts the insulation on the cable is broken. I ask for another, they explain that there is no other, and they are used to doing all the work on stripping the insulation of a twisted pair with side cutters. Crimp only crimp.
Not kidding, they really do work. I can do that too, but very slowly and I don't like it. Probably the installer's hand is full ...
But I never get tired of being surprised at such work - after all, whatever one may say, it's a hack. Or am I such a crab that can use side cutters and a screwdriver, but still prefers to work with a normal crimp?

If they clean it so that the veins are not damaged, then what is the problem?
By the way, I came across crimps, where exactly this “special” knife cut a couple of veins at a time, after which it began to be cleaned with an ordinary mounting knife with the obligatory visual control “did it hurt it”.
and I use this for this business,
I once saw it on the radio market.
You are a crab =)
And the installers are hacks, but this does not bother anyone, as long as it is correctly compressed and the Internet runs.
I never do this, I run in 4 actions with special tongs with all the knives.
He bit off, cleaned it with one knife
, distributed it with the second knife
, put
it in.
There were practically no accidentally cut cables, sometimes there were cuts, but you just have to get used to it.
Well, at home, when there is no reason to spend 500..700 rubles on crimping, I have always used and still use a regular clerical knife for stripping wires and pliers + a screwdriver for crimping. Everything is working.
But, of course, if this case is on stream, there is nowhere without crimping.
You still ask how many millimeters they clear, and then suddenly more than 12.5 ...
Maybe they don’t get money, so the poor toil.
Well, they float, there are such crimps and they have not gone away. But for speed it is really sometimes more convenient to use special knives like these www.ulmart.ru/goods/164722/ although I have seen more convenient and simpler models.
Just think: on Instagram, when the mesh was being restored at the pulpit after a fire, they were generally crimped with a screwdriver ...
I got fed up with it then and I bought myself some pliers.
Then my father sowed them on a business trip.
I bought new ones.
… And I forgot to TAKE them on a business trip! Ended up buying another one.
And my father bought separate ones for work.
So it’s better to keep ticks with a margin, but at work - hide them from colleagues and give them to your hands only for one-time promotions!
... And then they will either sow or break!
