No, it's not true. DMZ is a demilitarized zone organized to separate services available from the outside from the company's internal network. So the presence of a DMZ in the general case does not say anything about how and where the LAN traffic goes. It may happen that there is a proxy or other access filtering device in the DMZ, then yes. But that's another matter.
