Hello! I want to install programs on virtual box, because I don't want to have garbage on the main system.

If I install programs in VirtualBox (checking for a virus), will my main Windows 10 system be affected? The laptop has one hard drive.

99% safe. The main thing is not to be smart with shared folders.

In general, no.
The virus may well see what is being launched on the virtual machine, and then it will not act.
Also, if the virtual machine is connected to the network along with the host computer, the encryptor will be able to encrypt data on the network.
