Is it reasonable to move a File Server to a NAS?

Hello.
What it is now:
8 TB file server, running on a separate server with 1 CPU and 4 RAM.
The idea arose to move all the files to an external NAS, and set up DFS on this server.
Do you think it makes sense or leave it as it is?
ps Now everything works and works well, I just want to upgrade _))

@DotDash

the file server is backed up?
do not forget that nas is always a tangible cost.

Transferring for the sake of transferring is not worth it.
If you are already going to transfer, then it is better not NAS, but SAN, give the volume via iSCSI.
