Is it possible to use third-party software to play audio and video in the browser instead of Adobe flash player?
I'm wondering if it's possible to use a software player for audio and video in the browser, for example PotPlayer, instead of Adobe's flash player, including playing a playlist, managing resolution settings and audio-video formats that are available on each of the sites?

If you want to completely get rid of Flash, try Video.js - www.videojs.com
But you need to be sure that without additional plugins like Flash, it will only play basic video - mp4, webm, etc. - and the maximum interactive experience you get is progressive download with the seeking feature - i.e. arbitrary movement through the file. And that's if the server supports it.
Well, I strongly advise you to read what Robert Reinhard writes about this: www.streamingmedia.com/Articles/Editorial/Featured...
