you can switch.

it's old, but I don't think it's changed much. in addition, for both the mouse and the trackpad, there are several utilities that expand the functionality of gestures.
"swipe in full screen mode" - switch between desktops and full screen applications.
"Swipe between pages" is back and forth in the browser / turning pages in the reader / etc.
