Is it possible to somehow attach Dial-Up today, or organize a dial-up server?

I wanted something weird. I have a couple of old laptops, maybe I'll buy more. I use them exclusively for severe bouts of nostalgia. I wanted something strange, namely where to dig to:
1. Laptops have dial-up data modems. How and with the help of what can they be networked or connected to a modern local area network. For games and surfing under Windows 95/98? Through LAN, I was unable to establish a network connection in these operating systems.
2. Is it possible to set up automatic conversion of some news feeds to the old site building standards in automatic / semi-automatic mode, in order to host this business on a local network, and open it from an ancient laptop via a dial-up modem? (software will handle the conversion in a virtual machine with a modern OS, and access will be through browsers Opera 7-12, IE 6.0)

Where to dig? What keywords to google for?

One of the big problems today for games with modems is the banal lack of a telephone line. Previously, she was everywhere, but recently it is extremely rare to meet her in various apartments and offices in any form. Therefore, we will make a telephone line ourselves! To begin with, let's check the modem connection just by noodles ...
But still you can't use it. And if you still want to connect two modems, through noodles, then what to do? I found the answer on the site www.jagshouse.com/modem.html
The connection diagram is as follows ...
That is, we need a 9-24 volt battery, a capacitor and a resistor ...

You can make a Dial-Up server on a regular modem and a computer with Linux or Windows XP. The speed will be no higher than 33.6 kb / s, but if you buy additional. equipment, you can raise the link and 56k. WebOne
can be used as a converter program , it simplifies web pages, removes HTTPS, etc.

Hey dude :) You're in the right place :) I've been on dialup for seven years, the whole diploma was made on it :) I assume that the laptops are under win95? You can try connecting them to each other (directly) using a null modem cable. To work on dialup, you need a server that accepts a dialup connection. That is, a machine that also has one or two modems in the mode of receiving connections (connected to the telephone line in the mode of receiving a call). It's usually UNIX (although we originally built it on OS/2), it's just one of the interfaces to it. It provides routing to tyrnet, it can also host a Fido or BBS node (in the last two cases, you do not get into tyrnet - Fido is an independent network, now almost dead, BBS is an electronic bulletin board - something that existed long before tyrnet)
