Is it possible to put DDR1 RAM sticks of different frequencies at the same time?

At home there is an ancient computer that I want to bring back to life. It had 2 memory sticks (256 MB + 512 MB), which, as it turned out, operate at a frequency of 333 MHz. I bought another one for 1 GB, but its frequency turned out to be 400 MHz. Can they be put on the same motherboard? The board supports both frequencies and has two paired slots for RAM.

It is possible, but it will work at the lowest overall frequency, i.e. 333 MHz

On many ancient computers, the bar with a lower frequency is better to put in the first slot. For greater confidence in stable operation, you can set a fixed value in the BIOS.

As Mear correctly said, they will start at the lowest frequency. Most likely, it doesn’t even make sense for you to try to start the old bars at a higher frequency than the standard one, you will see an increase only in synthetic tests, and in real use, more memory will give you more comfort in work.

I overclocked 333 bars to 400+ MHz, without raising the voltage. So it will most likely work. But they may not earn, it depends on a lot.

I saw a computer, where in each slot there was a memory of a different frequency. I don’t remember at what frequency it ended up working, but I remember that the result surprised me very much.
