Is it possible to make a remote game server?
I've been sitting on Os X for a long time, one question arose here.
I love battle 4 and other games on pc. it’s impossible to have Windows in a dual boot, ssd is not rubber, but you can’t put it on a USB flash drive (I wanted to put a USB flash drive on usb 3.0, there should not have been any losses soon).
And then I thought - why not adapt a server with Windows for games. The configuration is good, the game pulls.
The question is - will it be possible to organize the game remotely on this server from a macbook? At least under the condition of being in one local network (one hundred megabit). and another nuance - the macbook is connected via wi-fi. are delays tolerable?
otherwise I administer a server with Windows via teamviever - the speed will not be so hot for games (:

No, it’s impossible, everything will be too dull in terms of transmitting an active picture, few fps and everything else.
Indeed, store.steampowered.com/streaming/?l=russian
The article on Habré from the answer above describes everything, in the comments it is written how you can launch any third-party game or application (you just need to add a shortcut to Steam)! We tried it - it works, in principle you can even play shooters! But there are quite high requirements for the processor of the server and client. For example, in conjunction with 2x3GHz with a top video server and 2x2.5GHz macbookpro, I didn’t get enough quality for a comfortable game even in heroes 3 - the degradation of the picture is noticeable when scrolling the playing field quickly. You can enable debug mode - you can see where the bottleneck is. Wi-Fi, of course, is still disgusting, and not only for these purposes ...
