Is it possible to create flash drives (y) to run OC from it?

I would like to create a flash drive (s) with Windows and Linux, but not installation ones, but so that I can put the flash drive into the appropriate port and start the computer with the OS I need. (I imagine it like this: I come home, insert the necessary flash drive, start the PC and hop you have Linux (or Windows), and all the necessary files by the type of programs for work are on the railway). Tobish it turns out that I'm just replacing the HDD with a USB flash drive. If it is possible, then how?

It is possible through virtual box. The flash drive mounts as a hard drive and install any OS
