Is it possible to connect 2 monitors through one HDMI port?

I have a laptop with one HDMI connector (hp pavilion 15-cc101ur ), can I somehow connect 2 monitors to it with a desktop extension? It will suit the option when one monitor duplicates the desktop of the laptop, the second expands it.
Superficial Google gave the answer that it is impossible, but I came across several comments that said that it seems to be possible, but without detailed instructions and confirmations. I would like to know for sure before buying a second monitor. If someone has such experience and is willing to share it, I will be very grateful)

If I looked at the characteristics of your laptop correctly, then you have usb type-c. Accordingly, you can buy a usb type-c to hdmi adapter.
