The question is, what potential percentage of visitors will not be able to use the site if communication with the server is completely on web sockets, including without any alternative transports like AJAX-LongPoll, IFrame-LongPoll, etc.?
That is, there is no websocket support - go update your browser.

Study your users and draw conclusions.
