Is it possible to achieve normal auto-updating of drivers without additional software? Or automatic check for new versions.

Watching what.
Drivers for ATI (AMD) video cards can do this. NVIDIA - I don't remember, you need to look, but it seems they can too.
Also add. software is not needed for the drivers that are present on Windows Update (but often the "firewood" versions there may not be the latest).
UPD. Pretty normal solution here .
