Problem installing driver on ATI 6370M in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS?
Hello!
The essence of the problem is that there is an Asus K52 JT laptop, the installation of Ubuntu 14.04 on it next to Windows 7 is successful, everything is fine, it works. Except for the video card. (video card ATI Radeon HD6370M in conjunction with intel i5-480M) Installing proprietary drivers by any means and downloaded from different sources always ends up with one - when loading after Grub when the drivers are loaded - a black screen. By sounds, the system works normally, there is no screen backlight and it is not regulated either by editing parameters or by keys. If you shine a flashlight on the screen, you can see that everything is displayed normally.
On the forums, the problem occurs repeatedly, but there is no description of the solution to the problem. I looked at the English-language forums (as far as knowledge of English allows) 1-2 solutions are (with the HD6370M card, but on other laptops and with a different processor) do not fit my laptop.
If someone met with such a problem on a similar laptop, please tell me what to do.

If it is visible under the flashlight, then the screen brightness is at zero. This has happened to me sometimes on an Acer with a 6470M card. It helped to change the brightness with the buttons to change it, which are on the laptop keyboard.
Let's dig into the drivers, shall we? the process is long and tedious.
You probably install drivers from repositories. And you can download the driver package from AMD from the site and try to take it off. By the way, if you press ctrl + alt + f1 (f2, f3) - I don’t remember the function key, then we get into the text console. The graphics adapter does not work in it, and accordingly everything should be visible.
You can use the manuals for installing video drivers for machines that are a farm for mining cryptocurrency.
