Is it possible to access files over the network?

Tell me if users from outside can access files on their home computer and download them. Windows XP SP3, Kaspersky antivirus.
1) The computer is connected to the network and left without a user for the night, there are no suspicious processes looking at Disp. tasks. In addition to the OS, antivirus and a couple of light progs, there is nothing.
2) The same conditions, but the download and distribution of the torrent via uTorrent is included.

If there is nothing in the "ball", then they cannot.
Plus, if by local network you mean the local network of the provider, then most likely it is designed in such a way that users connected to the same switch (access, for example) do not see each other.
If the network is "stupid", and all users see each other, then in this case it is better to think about some kind of NAT or firewall, at least. Unless, of course, there are some archival and secret files on the computer. An adequate router with disabled access from outside and good passwords is quite an excellent protection. For the house it is no longer necessary at all - IMHO.
