I usually fix viewpoints with helper artboards and a prearranged amount of zoom in/out. Like, you click on the artboard, then ctrl+1 to center the screen, then zoom out/in the required number of times (it's better to use the magnifying glass button or ctrl +/-, more precisely than zooming with the wheel)
