I noticed that many commercial sites use recognizable images from pop culture, movies, music, famous personalities on their sites. For example, they place characters from star warriors, etc. How legal is it? If it's completely illegal and copyright infringing, then why does everyone keep doing it? Not legal, but no one cares. It all comes down to the fact that the copyright holder complains and asks to be removed, and the content is removed, but complaints are quite rare. There is no need to give counterexamples, because rarely does not mean never.
