Is a UPS optimized for a generator?

I don’t know how to formulate the question correctly, but on my fingers it goes like this:
We need a UPS that, when the power is turned off, takes on the load, and after pressing a special button (and even better remotely), it removes the load, but does not charge the batteries (i.e. just passes through). Ideally, to even out the tension.
What is it for - there is a generator, which takes about a minute to start. It is necessary that for this minute nothing turns off. But the alternator is not pulling the charging of the UPS batteries.
In general, tell me please, where to dig?

Here, apparently, it is necessary to divide the task into two: [automatic] voltage stabilizer - they are quite inexpensive even by tens of kilowatts compared to the cost of UPS with constant conversion (smart).
The UPS itself will probably have to look not from a series of household / server UPS. Look towards the inverters. There were, in my opinion, modular breezes, which, firstly, can work synchronously, and secondly, you can hang a lot of high-capacity batteries on them, and there definitely is a charge control there.
But judging by the power of 1 kW, it is easier, cheaper and more reasonable to replace the generator with a more powerful one (so that it can handle both the load and charging at the same time).
Well, or in the form of option 2: play around with the ATS and make a power supply circuit from the generator "past" the UPS. Naturally, you will have to watch the "high-speed" AVR

1. As nehrung correctly wrote , the UPS works as you described.
2. UPS usually have special auxiliary contacts for plant signal from the generator. When the generator is started, the UPS enters a special mode in which the batteries are not charged, and the UPS simply passes current through itself.

I would just put at the entrance - before the UPS (or even instead of the UPS) such a specialized piece of iron

It's even cheaper than a UPS
